After 6 months of renovation work we are proud to invite you all for the opening. The work is not over yet and a lot is only starting. Come by to hear what are our plans with the place, have a drink, re-unite, listen to some music and in general have fun.
The program is not definitive, but goes along the following lines:

Here is some pictures documenting progress of LAG renovation. At this stage we are about to finish wall construction and prepare the place for more detailed finishing work such as electricity installation, wall plastering etc. There is still long way to go in order to open new space. Amsterdam Squatting movement is suffering the biggest repression ever seen. Since the squatting ban (october 2010) a lot (most of) squats in the city had been evicted. We (SLUG) were also affected by the city policy and were not able to open new squatted hacklab in the “free”city of Amsterdam. That is one of the main reasons we decided to go for more stable option and thanks to BinnenPret collective this was made possible. Still we had to rescue all the junk that we have been collecting through out the years. Recent evictions of couple of squats and coming eviction of The Basement where we’ve been storing most of “our shit” forced us to once again move it to safety. Of course we’re “always looking at the bright side of life” which in this case means sorting out the stuff so we can realize how much old useless junk we have. Read the rest of this entry »

For last weeks we’ve been busy preparing the place in Binnenpret for total renovation. Here, sharing the space together with other projects (such as RPM recording studio, ASB Anarcho-sindicalist union, and a wood workshop) we’re going to open new hacklab.
For now it is mainly demolishing work. We had to remove all the old walls,/floors and other mysterious constructions left by the group running SaunaFenomen. At this moment we are getting close to actual building. We need to build new walls separating the projects as well as make new electricity, water and gas installation in the building. We are hoping to finish all that in the mid-september, so then we can start preparing LAG to be open.

From march LAG will open its door to the public in the ex-sauna of the binnenpret. You are welcome to get involved. At the moment, we are busy renovating the place so extra pairs of hands are always welcome. Use contact page to see how you can find us or follow our website for more updates.
